How much does a windscreen repair cost?
A generic windscreen for an average family vehicle should cost between $250 – $600. Genuine windscreens can cost up to three times this amount. We’ll provide options for both genuine and generic replacements as both have their advantages (generic being cost, genuine being quality).
Where do you service?
We provide repairs across Canterbury (mobile service, travel will incur a fee which is quoted on request). We also carry out repairs from our workshop located at 530D Sawyers Arms Road, Harewood in Christchurch.
What are your open hours?
We are open Monday Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 9am – 1pm.
We can provide chip repairs outside of these hours but procurement of windscreen replacements can be challenging. Please call us to see if we can help outside of our normal hours.
How long does it take to repair a windscreen?
A front windscreen replacement for an average vehicle takes one technician approximately one hour. However, classic vehicles, trucks, buses etc, may take several technicians many hours to complete. We’ll be able to give you an accurate service time prior to starting.
Chip repairs take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Can you repair my windscreen under insurance?
Yes we can! Your insurer will recommend you use their preferred supplier as they have a contract with their repairers, it is for this reason that we recommend selecting your own repairer who will work in your best interests, not your insurers.
Is it safe to drive with a cracked windscreen?
A chipped windscreen isn’t going to shatter into shards as it’s made from laminated safety glass. This means that you can safely drive your vehicle to a repairer but it doesn’t mean you can drive around for extended periods with damaged glass.
Can chipped/cracked windscreens be repaired or do they need to be replaced?
Yes, in many cases a windscreen chip or small crack can be repaired. Generally speaking if the damage is smaller than a 20c coin in size it can be repaired.
